The story takes place after the Korean War has ended. An ordinary girl named “Yun Jeong Nyeon” has to work hard to make a living for herself and her mother “Seong Rye”. She and her mother go out to find cockles to sell in Mokpo. Even though she was born into hardship, “Yun Jeong Nyeon” grew up with a dream to escape from Seoul to become an actress in the Guk Guk theater troupe, which is a traditional Korean opera for women, hoping to one day become successful and rich. Until one day, she saw an exciting performance by the Maeran Women’s Theater troupe led by “Kang So Bok”, which made her look up to him as an idol and started to ignite her own dreams again.
